Eyes To See

Now faith is the assurance, the confirmation,
the title deed of the things we hope for,
being the proof of things we do not see
and the conviction of their reality,
faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.
Heb. 11:1 (AMP)

We think of things here on earth as the "real" world and heavenly things as ethereal. We are so in tune with our earthly senses it is hard for us to conceive that the heavenly kingdom is actually more real, concrete and permanent than what we can see, hear, taste, touch and smell here on earth.

Faith awakens our spiritual senses so that we are able to perceive all the realities of the heavenly realm.  We are encouraged to focus our eyes on Jesus, to listen for his voice, to taste and see that the Lord is good until the realities of heaven become our reality here on earth.  If we are continually caught up in our earthly senses we will be brought down to the earth's level of worry, fear and lust, but, if we lift our eyes to the heavenly realm we will be walking in a new reality that will permeate our lives here.

Lord, give us eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart that understands so that we might turn unreservedly toward you, receiving all that the realities of heaven have to offer.

That is why we never give up.
Though our bodies are dying,
our spirits are being renewed every day.
For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long.
Yet they produce for us a glory
that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now;
rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen.
For the things we see now will soon be gone,
but the things we cannot see will last forever.
 2 Cor 4:16-18 (NLT)

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ,
set your sights on the realities of heaven,
where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
For you died to this life,
and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.
 Col 3:1-4 (NLT)
